KIYOKO KASHIWAGI: Hello! I am the founder/choreographer/director of ANIME DANCE THEATER. I was born and raised in Japan, and now, I'm a New Yorker and a vegetarian. I started my classical ballet training at the age of five, and after moved to New York, I learned modern dance technic at the Merce Cunningham Studio, and learned dance composition from Doris Rudko. My anime dance pieces have been presented by many venues in NYC, Paris, and Japan. We'd love to see you in your town soon! Enjoy!

About ANIME DANCE

Anime dance is the unique narrative style Kiyoko created by combining elements from classical ballet, modern dance, and Japanese animation (or "anime"). Because it is a marriage of anime style and dance techniques, we call this form “anime dance.” Anime dance pieces are full of outrageous yet likable characters, sophisticated humor, dramatic music, and fantastic situations, delightful to both children and adults.
